Visiting Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Vancouver, Canada

Visiting Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Vancouver, Canada

Capilano Suspension Bridge-1.jpg

Let’s put it this way, you cannot pass Vancouver, Canada, without visiting the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. As simple as that! The park is knows for its treetop adventures, thrilling bridges and perfect natural forest setting.

Getting There

The easiest and most efficient way to get to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. is by car. It is about 30 minutes from Vancouver Airport. There is also a free shuttle service. from downtown Vancouver. To take public transit, from Downtown Vancouver, ride the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay, then take the #236 bus to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (about a 15-minute ride). Coming from Phibbs Exchange, take bus #232. The #246 bus from downtown Vancouver stops at Granville Skytrain, Burrard Skytrain, and various bus stops on W Georgia Street.

TIP: If you’re coming by SkyTrain or SeaBus and buying single-trip Compass tickets, buy your return ticket in advance at the SeaBus or SkyTrain station to cover your entire transit trip to CSBP and back. Here’s why: On your return trip, if you pay with cash on the bus, that ticket is only valid for bus travel, and you’ll have to buy a separate SeaBus or SkyTrain ticket to complete your trip.

What to See

1. The Capilano Suspension Bridge

The most famous and popular part of the park. this bridge is hung 220 feet above the canyon floor and stretches 450 feet from end to end. It is incredibly strong and can hold up to 96 fully grown elephants.

2. Treetops Adventure

The next famous attractions a set of seven bridges suspended between trees. They stand as high as 100 feet above the ground and give a wonderful perspective of the surrounding forest and mountains.

3. The Cliff Walk

The CliffWalk is a narrow semi-circle path that is suspended from a granite rock wall. It is very strong and can hold up to the weight of 35 grown whales.

4. Living Forest Walk

A series of boardwalks on the ground with information plaques to learn about the delicate forest, plants, and animals.

When we were visiting the park, it was drizzling and the park was fairly empty. We were able to get many shots without anyone in them. If you are concerned with getting wet, the park provides rain covers to help you stay dry.

If it were not for the weather, we would definitely spend more time in the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and explore more. I heard it is particular beautiful around the Christmas time since everywhere will be decorated with fairy lights. Well, isn’t that the perfect excuse for me to visit this place again?
