Perfectly situated beside sun-kissed slopes, village and forest with a splendid view of the Matterhorn, Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort, a member of the Design Hotels, is one of the best of the best and the only “ski in - ski out” hotel in Zermatt, Switzerland. An easy ten minute walk from the main train station with a lift in the Sunnegga funicular base station will bring you right to the entrance of the hotel.

Thanks to the complimentary pick-up and drop-off shuttle service (only for arrival and departure), checking into the resort for us with all our bags, luggages and ski equipments was a piece of cake. The resort has a modern Alpine charm and cosiness throughout with mounted-antlers, natural stone and pine, and a warm palette. Overall, the resort has 6 chalets including 36 rooms with either a balcony or a terrace. Our junior suite is in Chalet two, has a living room, balcony, fireplace and beautiful view to the mountains and matterhorn. The suite has a cozy, natural, uncluttered, and earthy aesthetic. The bathroom has slotted wood slide doors and white tiling against charcoal floors. We also found that each chalet actually contains a private wellness area with terrace, outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, massage room and a room to relax in with fireplace. We learned that each exclusive chalet can be reserved as a unit and offers space for up to 10 people. This could be a fantastic arrangement for those who travel with large families and friends and want a lot of space and privacy.

Thanks to it brilliant Ski-In-Out location, Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort has one of the most popular après-ski bars in Zermatt. Upbeat music with the breathtaking Matterhorn as a background, plus a great service, there isn’t really much you can ask for more. For us, skiing is not just about hitting the slopes, but also about eating well. Before our arrival, our friends who have been to Zermatt before have recommended us to visit FERDINAND, one of two restaurants in Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort. It is a laidback restaurant for fondue, raclette, grills and other Swiss specialties. Facing night view of Zermatt village, we enjoyed an amazing candlelight dinner of Swiss raclette with a combination of Swiss cheese and meat. Nothing is more satisfying than melted cheese poured over the baby potatoes, served with cornichons and pearl onions.

Next morning, we woke up to the most wonderful view of majestic snowy mountains lit by Alpine glow from golden sunrise. Knowing we will be skiing all day and needing a solid breakfast, we went to NONNA PEMA for breakfast. This restaurant is also incredibly charming. Walnut tables, surrounded by benches and chairs with fabric cushions. There is a breakfast buffets area for fresh breads straight out of the oven, fresh fruits & juice, and cereals to satisfy the guests with immediate hunger. However, for those who can wait, the best dishes can be ordered from the extensive breakfast menu (also complimentary), from waffles to Egg Benedict. There is also a pinewood terrace for those who prefer to dine outside with magnificent views of the ever majestic Matterhorn. Monogrammed wool throws are casually laid on the benches to keep things cozy if the weather gets chilly.

For us, who are both skiers and foodies, Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort really ticks each and every box. Given the chance, next time we would love to try the Signature Spa Suite, which we heard is enormous, furnished with a cosy fireplace and hot tub on the terrace. Or the Panoramic Living Suite that has a kitchen and dining room. Or the most exclusive Owner’s Lodge, which is a private chalet facing directly to the Matterhorn. Either way, we are sure, no luxury will be spared.
